Venues & Directions
The CEBCP-SIPR Joint Symposium will be held at the George Mason University Arlington Campus on Monday, April 8 and in Washington, DC at the Capitol Visitor Center on Tuesday, April 9.
Venues:
All symposium events on Monday, April 8 will be held in Founders Hall on the George Mason University Arlington campus.
The Congressional briefing on Tuesday, April 9 will be held in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, in the House Meeting Rooms, HVC 201.
Directions, Maps, and Parking:
April 8:
The address for Founders Hall is 3351 Fairfax Drive, Arlington, VA 22201. A map of the Mason Arlington campus is available here.
Parking on the Arlington campus is very limited and attendees are encouraged to use Metro (see below). Driving directions are available here. Very limited visitor parking is available in the Founders Hall garage. The cost is $3 per hour ($14/day maximum).
April 9:
Directions and information on getting to the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center are available here. Click here for a map of the area surrounding the Visitor Center.
There is no parking for the Visitor Center and attendees are strongly encouraged to take Metro (see below). The closest parking is at the Union Station parking garage.
The entrance to the Visitor Center is at the intersection of East Capitol St. and First St. NE/SE on the East Side of the Capitol (the side facing the Supreme Court).
Please note that security is very tight at the Visitor Center. Information on prohibited items is available here.
YOU CANNOT BRING ANY FOOD OR DRINK (INCLUDING WATER) OR LARGE SUITCASES INTO THE VISITOR CENTER.
Once you enter, follow the signs to House Meeting Rooms. You have to go down to the lower level of the Visitor Center (one level below where you enter). Check in at the Appointments Desk at the entrance to the House Meeting Rooms to receive a badge and then enter the heavy metal doors and proceed to HVC 201.
Metro:
Attendees are strongly encouraged to use Metro to attend both days of the symposium.
April 8:
The Mason Arlington campus is right next to the Virginia Square-GMU station (orange line). From the station take the escalator to the street level, and turn to face Fairfax Drive. Across the street and to the right, you will see the FDIC building. The Arlington campus is next door. Click here for a map.
April 9:
The closest Metro station to the Capitol Visitor Center is Capitol South (blue/orange line). Union Station is also nearby (within walking distance). View this map for directions from the Metro to the Visitor Center.
Accomodations:
There are a number of hotel options in Arlington, VA and Washington, DC that are near the Mason Arlington Campus, Capitol Hill, and accessible Metro stations. Those needing accommodations might consider the Hyatt Arlington (next to the Rosslyn Metro Station), the Residence Inn Arlington Courthouse or the Hilton Garden Inn Arlington/Courthouse Plaza (next to the Courthouse Metro Station) or the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill or Holiday Inn Capitol near Union Station.
