Jim Burch

Jim Burch is the President of the National Police Foundation, after serving as its Vice President for Strategic Initiatives since 2015. Since joining the Foundation, Mr. Burch has prioritized the expansion of the Foundation’s research initiatives and has participated in the conceptualization and planning of multiple randomized controlled trials and innovative technical studies. Prior to joining the National Police Foundation, Mr. Burch served for more than 20 years at the U.S. Department of Justice, having been appointed to various senior executive and leadership positions, including Acting Director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (2009-2011), Deputy Assistant Attorney General (2011-2014) of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), and Acting Assistant Director at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) (2014-2015). Throughout his career, Mr. Burch has worked to strengthen and leverage research, while supporting the expansion of evidence-based policing.
