Affiliated Scholar

Dr. Gheorghe Tecuci is Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Learning Agents Center at George Mason University (, member of the Romanian Academy, and former chair of Artificial Intelligence at the U.S. Army War College. He has followed a career-long interest in the advancement of a computational theory and technology for the development of cognitive assistants that learn complex problem-solving expertise directly from human experts, support experts and non-experts in problem solving and decision making, and teach their problem-solving expertise to students. This theory has recently been extended with a computational theory of evidence-based reasoning, and has been employed in the development of powerful cognitive assistants for intelligence analysis. He has published over 190 papers and has recently co-authored two books, “Knowledge Engineering: Building Personal Learning Assistants for Evidence-based Reasoning,” and “Intelligence Analysis as Discovery of Evidence, Hypotheses, and Arguments: Finding and Connecting the Dots.”
